As a Website & SEO consultant, I have seen many businesses struggle to attract visitors to their website.
Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a crucial element in increasing website traffic and generating leads for your wellness coaching business.
In this blog, we'll be exploring three important concepts to consider before starting work on your SEO: the Unique Selling Proposition, Ideal Client Avatar, and also Exactly what it is you're selling.
One of the most important things to start with is being very clear about what you offer. Clearly define your services in a sentence or two, and make sure that your website reflects those services. Adding a clear service description and steps on how to get it on your website can help potential clients better understand what you offer and how to access it.
Consider breaking down your services into specific offerings that can help connect with your audience better. By segmenting them out, your ideal clients will find it easier to pick and choose services & solutions, which are relevant to them.
For instance, if you offer services for stress management, you may want to include specific solutions for working professionals who may be experiencing workplace burnout. By offering these specific solutions, you’re able to better define your business and attract clients who need the exact solutions you offer.
Knowing the specific product or service that you're selling is critical to a successful SEO campaign and if you're not clear on that you're really going to find it so much harder to find the terms that people are actually looking for that would lead them to your service - which is the fundamentals of SEO.
So I'd suggest taking some time and writing out a list of your services and for each one,
⚫ What specifically it is?
⚫ How you deliver it?
⚫ How can they buy it?
⚫ How much does it cost?
⚫ What problem does it solve?
⚫ How is it going to make their life better?
Once you've got that you should have a really clear way of describing each thing that you sell.
Knowing your ideal client avatar (ICA) helps to focus your marketing efforts and tailor your SEO strategy to your client's needs. To identify your ideal client, ask yourself some questions such as:
Who is your ideal client?
What are their common traits?
What are their struggles?
How can you position yourself as a solution provider to your ideal clients?
Understanding your ICA will help you to create content that resonates with them and to drive targeted traffic to your website. Create blog posts, articles, and other content that speaks directly to your ideal clients.
Understanding your Ideal Client Avatar or ICA is another crucial aspect of your SEO strategy and attracting the right audience. It helps you create content and optimize your online presence to meet the specific wants and needs of your ideal customers.
Define your ideal client isn’t always easy but there are some ways to get started:
Get a pad and write a new list.
Think about clients & customers you've already worked with - who did you enjoy working with, who did you not and why.
Do the ones you enjoyed working with have anything in common? Are they similar ages, jobs, personality types, level of income, lifestyle.
Think about the conversations you have with them, what are their challenges, and aspirations. What are their wellness goals? What problems do they have that you can help them with.
Understanding these sort of details will make creating content that will appeal to them so much easier, so that you can create an SEO strategy that actually works
Remember like most things in your business this is a process that will evolve and what you’re offering right now may change over time, but taking the time to refine your unique selling proposition, connect with your target audience, and create content that resonates with your ideal clients will make everything so much easier in the long run.
But don’t spend days, weeks, months agonising over this - just get some ideas down and then you can move onto the next step in your SEO journey which is actually finding the key words that people are searching for.
A Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is the unique aspect of your business that sets you apart from the competition.
Take some time to reflect on your story and background to identify your strengths, weaknesses, passions and hobbies that can be applied to your business. Align your USP with these core qualities.
Your USP should align with your values and who you are as a person. Always be genuine, authentic & transparent, and make sure to convey these values in everything you say and do.
Your USP is what makes you stand out in the competitive online space. It's the special ingredient that sets you apart from others and makes your services valuable to your target clients.
So how do you identify your unique approach?
You'll need to identify what makes your products or services unique.
⚫ Is it your holistic approach to what you do?
⚫ Do you work with a particular type of client?
⚫ Do you specialize in a specific area, such as face yoga or eft tapping for a specific condition, or fertility issues for female entrepreneurs?
⚫ Or perhaps it's HOW you work that sets you apart (for example I offer VIP Days for SEO strategy and this helps me to niche and connect with people who don't want projects to drag on for months and months.)
⚫ For you, is it your personalized one-to-one sessions, are you the only person in your area offering this? Even if you are working with people virtually, being known locally an make a massive difference to your business.
So if you don't’ know where to start?
This is a process that takes time, but you’ve got your list from step one of all the ways people can work with you - think about how they differ from other people offering similar services.
Think about your style of working, how you make people feel, your approach to communication and maybe even the tools you use.
The next step you could try is to get feedback from clients or from friends and family, you can do this by asking questions like “what do you like about working with me” or “how could I improve my services?
Find these unique aspect that sets you apart and find a way to connect with those people looking for your service or your style of working.
In summary, before starting SEO for your business, take the time to map out your service offering, identify your ideal client avatar, and understand your unique selling proposition. Doing so will help you create content that resonates with potential clients and establish your business as a trustworthy solution provider.
